This weekend we visited the MoMA and were stunned by the new exhibition of Louise Bourgeois’ work.
A master of multiple mediums, the show consists of over 300 works of prints, textiles, sculptures and drawings. Although her techniques and styles vary greatly, there is a striking cohesion and voice that runs through her work over the decades. Somehow both elegantly simple and immersive and complex.
Her’s was a name we both knew from art school and my time as a printmaker - but this was a delightful reminder of her breadth and prowess as a creative.
I’ve included a few installation shots here, but it does not begin to do the artist and the exhibition justice. It is worth not only a visit, but multiple viewings.
An Unfolding Portrait is on display until January 28 2018
